David Wheaton: The Pro Tennis World

February 8, 2010

Former professional tennis player David Wheaton If you’re a tennis fan, no doubt you were in heaven over the past few weeks, following the Australian Open on television or maybe even at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. For great winners like Roger Federer and Serena Williams, it’s a heady time, as they bask in the international attention that a Grand Slam brings.

But when the racquets and sweatbands are finally zipped away, and the last TV camera has left the stadium, it can be lonely at the top.

David Wheaton knows this feeling well. He scaled the heights of the pro-tennis ladder in the 1990s, ranking 12th in the world and defeating the likes of Andre Agassi, Ivan Lendl and Jim Courier. But not even this kind of success was enough to satisfy.

Listen Now - David Wheaton joins Sheridan Voysey on Open House to reveal what tennis greats experience at the top.
