CBM: On the Ground in Haiti
February 8, 2010
While the media spotlight on Haiti has dimmed already, the struggling island nation will be recovering from the catastrophic January earthquake, for years to come.
Two weeks ago, the official body-count had reached close to 170,000, while the number of people injured by the January 12 quake was at 300,000. In one way or another, an estimated 3 million people have been affected.
One of many aid organisations helping with recovery, is CBM. Formerly known as Christian Blind Mission, they’ve been working in Haiti since 1976 and their focus is on helping people with all kinds of disabilities. It’s times like this, that CBM really comes into its own.
